P-Day

Hola Familia,
This week was a good week that went by too fast. We managed to teach a lesson with a member that was Catholic to the Family Agrazal, who is Catholic. They had mentioned that they were planning on waiting until their kids were done with catechism before thinking about changing anything, but after the visit they were again positive about praying and finding the truth of our message in preparation for May 14th for baptism. Oh, and last night we taught a guy in English, he knows not too much spanish because he is from Nigeria.
It's crazy! I didn't even realize that the Mother's Day call was coming up so soon! But anyway, I am not sure yet, but the house phone here is 234-8536 so I will be verifying the time and everything this week.
Oh my goodness, Erika, those photos you sent me blew my mind! I didn't realize that it was Cameron in that photo until after I saw Genaro (he's home!). He seems like he's almost my age (though I still see myself at times as a 19 year old) That's so cool that you got to see them and everything.
Okay, so now I still have no photos taken in this area (it's not a good ideas to walk around with one in this area)
Hna. Ward (Pres. Ward's wife) called to tell me you guys had spoken with her about my shoes, so today I might buy some new ones, but just to verify, she said I could use the money in my mission account to buy them, right? Anyway I had glued the shoes closed and they are still mostly finctional...
Until next week's episode
Love you tons,
Elder Niendorf

A Baptism

Hola Familia,
Okay things are going pretty well here in Torrijos Carter. We actually have 10 people that have accepted a baptismal date. 4 for next weekday 30, 2 for the 7th and 4 (a family we found Wednesday) for the 14th of May. (I bet some are going to get pushed back a couple times, because hardly anyone made it to church this week).
Me and my companion get along well enough. He is similar to another Tongan I knew who had gotten sent to another island the same time I got sent to Narganà. He is more built like a football player.
I don't really know about the money thing. I think I will try to make due for now. My health is good, there hasn't been too much rain, so no leak problems...
I don't think next week I will write too much due to the fact that there are a few things I want to organize and will be taking time for that, but I love you guys a lot. Thanks for all the support!
The picture: the hole in my shoe that is now bigger than the photo shows, that I will try to glue closed today...
Love,
Elder Niendorf

Torrijos Carter

Hola Familia,
I am now in an area called Torrijos Carter in the zone San Isidro. My new companion is Elder Taufa from Salt Lake City; he is Tongan. We are not close to the beach, we are actually very close to the area I was in a year ago, La Paz. Our house is sort of cool, but it is now raining season again, and we discovered that there are several leaks (one right above my bed). But I like it (the house). I need to do some cleaning, though. I will probably not sleep in the hammock anymore. I have not eaten anything crazy recently, just a lot of rice. Thank you for the questions, Jonathan. Do you eat guandù or arbejas (or arvejas) in Chile? They're like beans.
To continue, the lessons acutally vary for me sometimes 40 minutes, sometimes 20. I like taking around 20 minutes, but with my companions when we aren't in sync it takes longer to finish. I rarely do street contacts, which is something I need to improve. But I sort of like doing house contacts. We got 4 referrals this past week. My shoes are dead! there is a big hole in the side I will take a picture of for next week. I was sort of hoping the packages would arrive before buying new things.
Bueno, I am running out of time. I love you guys tons.
Love,
Elder Niendorf

Last Day of this Change...

Hola Familia,

This week was interesting. We didn't get to work too much because I hadn't gotten better, it was just in that morning that I had been feeling a bit well. The Mission nurse said it was probably giardia? but was not sure. Until about Thursday I felt well enough to work again. It was a bit annoying but I am better now. Just some of my leg muscles are a bit stressed. I think I lost a bit of weight too, but there's no scale around here...

No one has progressed this week. No one of our investigators came to Conference but the one sister who is still drinking coffee...But I at least very much enjoyed Conference. I really liked Elder Dallin H Oaks's talk about Desires and Pres. Monson's talk in Priesthood session. It was a good time too because we got to watch it in English in the small Familiy History room with the ZLs and an Elder Johnson from Idaho.

Okay, well the next time I write I willl probably be in another area because I think they are uniting this small area with the other Elders' area so we will see tonight what happens...

Love you tons,
Elder Niendorf
